Only One Thing Will Work to Stop Donald Trump

--

If you’re reading this, chances are you, like the team here at VFRL, believe that service is a privilege. As odd as it is to connect that to the breaking news that the Supreme Court of Colorado ruled Donald Trump ineligible to be on the ballot, in my view it is.

Donald Trump is going to be the Republican candidate for President, no matter the Colorado court’s decision. SCOTUS will most likely overturn it, and even if they weren’t going to, Colorado is reliably a Biden state.

I’ve been in the anti-Trump game since 2017, when I started VFRL after the National Security Advisor at the time lied to the FBI. There have been so many times since, that a deus ex machina event was going to come along and fix America’s Trump problem for it. The Meuller investigation, Impeachment I, Emoluments, the 25th Amendment, January 6th, Impeachment 2, Mar a Lago documents, and so on.

Despite these hopes, only one thing HAS worked, and it was men and women, citizens of this country like you and I, who have stood in line at the polls to cast their ballots. The indisputable majority of Americans view our democracy, and who is allowed to participate in it, as non-negotiable.

Which brings me back to my original point. We are called to serve. We are called to organize, to protest, to convince, to vote, and to help others vote. It is a privilege to be in a position, as we are, to be able to influence our nation’s history as we are going to do. We will use our voices, our service, and the debt we owe to our brothers and sisters who bled out in the dust to stop a dictator. We are going to win, by embracing our citizenship and exercising it to the fullest vision of the Founders.

It is going to require hard work and discomfort, but we must never waver, and never forget it is a privilege to be where we are. This can be done, and we are the ones to do it.

In Service,Dan Barkhuff
